“Old School” TV Niche

We see this type of niche that was built for the “old school” rear projection TVs of the 90’s and early 2000’s quite frequently. In fact, I think there are a few builders that are still building them! If you are one of those builders and are reading this, PLEASE STOP! Fortunately, if you are the proud owner of a home that has one of these, there is a solution!

In most cases the space can be redesigned and in some cases it can be expanded as seen in the project photos shown below. Our solution typically includes custom cabinetry which allows us to “float” a flat panel HDTV perfectly in the space using an articulating wall mount bracket. The remainder of the space can be divided into component and speaker openings, shelves and drawers. This project shown below has the left, center, and right front speakers concealed behind an acoustic fabric panel located directly under the HDTV. We can easily match the type and finish of the wood in your home, or if you wish, paint the cabinets to match your wood trim.
